Beeple – trading as Mike Winkelmann – was the start of the hype around non-fungible tokens (NFTs). He sold an NFT at auction house Christie’s for the equivalent of $69.3 million, showing that NFTs are a serious object of speculation.
Beeple wants to open his own studio
Now the NFT artist is approaching the analog world. The American recently published a video that provides insight into the construction of his new studio.
The studio is being built in Charleston, South Carolina, in a disused warehouse. As you can see from his other tweets, the studio should not only serve to create new works of art. He is more concerned with providing the NFT scene with a place to develop.
Beeple: Analog space is designed to bring new people to NFTs
The studio is intended to create the opportunity for exhibitions and provide a space for the display of NFT artwork.
His calculus: an analogue exhibition space for digital art should bring new interested people back into the picture. This could eventually make it possible to overcome the current bear market.
However, the artist has not announced an exact date for the opening of the studio. According to him, the video shows the first half of the construction process. However, the second is nearing completion.
NFT artist with roots in digital
Beeple has been making digital art since the advent of NFTs. He worked, among other things, as a graphic designer for artists in the music industry. His crypto breakthrough came with his NFT artwork EVERYDAYS: The First 5,000 Days. The artwork featured a collage of 5,000 of his artworks and sold for $69.3 million. While many NFTs are simply computer-generated images of monkeys, cats, and similar animals, there’s actually a lot of work behind “EVERYDAYS.” Beeple had created a new piece of art every day for 5,000 days and eventually combined it into a collage.
