Welcome to the 2022 NBA Draft Guide, a deep dive into every player and skill set you need to know heading into this year’s draft.
This is the third time I’ve done one of these. Every year, the goal is simple: Try to come up with the most comprehensive document for NBA fans, college basketball fans and everyone involved in the industry to peruse. It’s gotten a bit harder as my time continues to be split in different directions, from NBA coverage to college basketball transfers to the Game Theory Podcast to some on-camera responsibilities. This year, we broke down 75 players as opposed to the usual 100, but the breakdowns are in deeper detail than ever before. Coming in at nearly 90,000 words, I hope there is something for everyone in here, from folks who work for NBA front offices and decision-makers – more of whom take the time to read this than I would have ever believed when I started doing it a few years ago – to NBA fans who do not watch a second of college basketball.
While this draft isn’t quite as strong as some recent iterations have been – we’re coming off one of the best rookie classes to enter the NBA in decades – I do think there are players worth getting excited about. While I do not have a Tier One grade on any player in this class – Tier One grades for me are reserved for the elite of the elite – I genuinely love all four of the consensus top prospects: Jabari Smith Jr., Chet Holmgren, Paolo Banchero and Jaden Ivey.
As usual, I’m thrilled for this year’s draft, almost as excited as I am for you to get to read this year’s guide. Click the link below to download, using the password: [email protected]
