Final world championship qualifier at ÖTILLÖ Swimrun Gothenburg

On August 6th, 2022, the city of Gothenburg will provide the backdrop for ÖTILLÖ Swimrun Gothenburg – following its inaugural event last year.

The main event on Saturday, August 6th is expecting close to 600 racers representing more than 20 nations. There will be three race distances catering for the whole spectrum of swimrunners; from beginners to elite athletes.

The Experience race is 9.3 km, the Sprint is 17.5 km and the World Series is 33.3 km.

In the World Series race 12 teams from the three categories (men, women & mixed) that do not already have a spot can qualify for the 16th ÖTILLÖ, The Swimrun World Championship in the Stockholm Archipelago on September 5th. This is the last chance to qualify.

Swedish Olympic Champion Nils Van der Poel will be starting together with Swimrun World Champion Oscar Olsson. The organizing team notes that.. they will have several other Swimrun World Champions to race against in the World Series distance.

“We are extremely happy and proud to be able to showcase one of the most beautiful parts of the city of Gothenburg,” said Mats Skott, Race Director at ÖTILLÖ Swimrun.

“The islands in this southern archipelago are nothing but spectacular and we cannot wait to show them off.”

The southern archipelago of Styrsö, Vrångö, Donsö, Brännö and Köpstadsö is around 15 minutes from the mainland and the city of Gothenburg. It has a history since the stone age and a unique geography – with granite islands, small, year-round hamlets and an active summer community.
