Where is the journey going with the journey and is the hospitality industry ready for the metaverse? These were the central questions at the QR industry event “Requirements to speak”. Challenges that concern the hotel industry today and in the future were discussed with experts. The event can now be listened to on the day ticket
How has Corona changed the hotel industry? What did this time do to a company and its employees? The ups and downs in 2020 and 2021 with hopeful summers and setbacks in the winter months could not be planned. Entire teams were in short-time work for months, were restless and turned their backs on the industry. Since March 2022, the reservation volume has been increasing again. Employees are missing in all departments. Inflation, high energy costs, minimum wages and, last but not least, the consequences of the war in Ukraine are causing a shortage of skilled workers. The outlook is not rosy. The need to speak is greater than during the pandemic years.
So where is the journey going with the journey? Where does the industry need to go to be well positioned for the future?
“Our industry is undergoing a process of change. Tourism and the hotel industry must become more sustainable in order not to become the cigarette of the 21st century. The United Nations has defined 17 sustainable goals. Climate change forces us to act quickly,” says Florian Bauhuber, keynote speaker at Realizing Progress.
Sustainability was also central to the panel discussion with experts from travel management, the hotel industry, technology and associations. What exactly is sustainability? How do I live sustainably? But pragmatic, urgent questions about global market developments were also discussed and answered.
