One colorful poster follows another along Köpenicker Strasse in Berlin. “Bright Moments presents NFT Art Berlin” is written in block letters above the artwork, which has been reduced to a few pixels. Including some names like Boreta, Holger Lippmann and Tom Sachs.
NFT Art Berlin has been enchanting its visitors for a week now. We were there and take you behind the scenes of the largest crypto art exhibition in Germany to date.
Synthesis of art and electronic music
The website already lists the questions the organizers are asking clear moment wants to answer with the exhibition:
What drives this new technology? Is it the culture? Is it the community that forms around it? Or is it capitalism?
Bright Moments website
Already at the entrance to the former Berlin combined heat and power plant, it becomes clear that this is a trendy event: young people in crazy clothes are standing in front of the entrance, smoking, drinking and chatting enthusiastically about the latest blockchain technologies and trends in crypto art. Electronic music plays in the huge hall, screens flash everywhere and at first you don’t even know where to look.
The exhibition extends over three floors. There would have been room for 18 floors in the power plant, that’s how high the ceiling is. In the lower part of the building, more than 50 high-resolution screens hang from the countless reinforced concrete beams of the combined heat and power plant. The screens teem with fabulous creatures from distant galaxies and abstract forms that are constantly intertwined. Each of these NFT artworks has already been mined and an owner is registered on the blockchain. Experts from Bright Moments have put together these contemporary works of art especially for the exhibition in the capital.
Bright Moments NFT Collection
The ground floor also houses the collection of organizer Bright Moments from Los Angles. A major advantage of digital art is that the expensive works do not have to be laboriously transported. They can be easily displayed on any screen worldwide. The most expensive works of art on physical products, such as canvas, usually come in airtight and dark packaging due to their age and perishability.

corners. It all started with three screens on an unplastered wall. The group around the young company organized itself with the help of a DAO (Decentralized Autonomous Organisation). “Nobody expected such success in such a short time,” says Jonas Goldstein, co-founder of the company. Today, Bright Moments still likes to display their artwork in front of bare walls. Only these walls are now meters high and are among the most breathtaking locations in the world. Via Venice Beach (Los Angles) the start-up went to New York, then to Berlin and then to London. Goldstein tells us that metropolises such as Seoul, Hong Kong and Tokyo are also planned.
Exclusive NFT Club
One of the reasons for its success is that the company’s NFTs are also the community access ticket (DAO). For example, the 1,000 community members from New York – they are called CryptoNewyYorker in the scene – have the right to mine one of the 300 CryptoBerliners the company issues. A lot of money flows into the company. “We invest the money from the sale here,” Goldstein explains, pointing to the oversized NFT Art Berlin poster at the entrance to the power plant. “We’re not pocketing it,” he said assertively.
Another 300 CryptoBerliner NFTs will simply be given away. So you want to open up the already very exclusive art community to other people. Someone who has not yet interacted with the subject thinks twice about whether to do so Gold Token Berlin buys. Only the purchase of this token, which currently costs about 1 Ether, the equivalent of about €2,800, entitles you to buy an NFT from the Berlin Collection or a CryptoBerliner. The purchase is only possible on site at the NFT Art in Berlin. Owning one of these NFTs in turn means inclusion in the DAO community. Within this community you enjoy some exclusive benefits and you can buy additional CryptoCitizens, ie NFTs from other cities.
Hitting an NFT live
A special part of NFT Art Berlin is Live Minting. Holders of a Golden Token can meet in a private space and exchange ideas with the exhibiting artists. Here the token is redeemed and the code for the NFT artwork is generated for the visitors. At that time, however, the visitor has not yet seen his purchased NFT artwork. To do this, he must leave the VIP area and step into a beam of light on the third floor of the exhibition.
Upon entering the room, the NFT artwork will be shown for the first time on the gigantic screen in the central hall. Electronic music by the artist plays in the background drill. Each CryptoBerliner is linked to a musical loop that is also unique and generated on the spot by code – a successful fusion of the digital and real world.
At a quarter to ten, all screens on the ground floor suddenly go black. Shortly after, the Bright Moments logo appears. Crowd ascends the stairs to the third floor, which is now accessible not only to Gold Token holders, but to everyone. They gather in front of the big screen in the main hall. The countdown begins. For the next 30 minutes, a white animated bar rotates on screen in front of approximately 1,000 spectators. The focus should be on the music. The work is presented here Einstein on the beach as NFT.
Techno and the CryptoBerliners
Afterwards, all CryptoBerliners mined during the evening will be presented again with their unique music loop. Here and there a group of young people cheer when their CryptoBerliner appears on screen. Crazy how happy you can be with a pixelated photo of 3000 euros. But the euphoria isn’t just about getting the shot, it’s the feeling of being part of the Bright Moments community.
The evening is coming to an end. The NFT community dances, drinks and talks animatedly. A DJ from Detroit keeps the crowd pumping techno late into the night.
